CCRSPI 2016

logoTo tackle the challenges of climate in the future, Australian primary industries will need world leading innovation and this will be one of the key focus areas of the Climate Change Research Strategy for Primary Industries (CCRSPI) conference being held in Sydney in April.

The overarching theme of the ‘CCRSPI 2016’ conference will be climate resilience within Australia’s primary industries. Australia’s leading climate scientists, researchers, policy makers and industry leaders will discuss the drivers for primary industries in relation to climate, and insights will be drawn out from influencers in business, the value chain and financial service sector.

The conference will also discuss research, development and extension (RD&E) actions that are being undertaken in Australia in the areas of climate risk mitigation and climate adaptation –both of which influence the resilience of primary industries’ production systems.

Anyone with an interest or investment in climate research is invited to attend the conference, with early bird registrations now open and able to be made online at www.ccrspi2016conference.com.  Early bird registrations – which offer a cheaper rate for attendees – for the conference close on 4 March.

CCRSPI is a partnership of policy makers, research investors and research providers who collaborate, share knowledge and experience, and shape climate-related research investments so that they deliver RD&E that has maximum value for primary industries.

The Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation is the secretariat for CCRSPI and its Managing Director, Craig Burns, said the conference will cover a breadth of topics that will inform attendees about current research and productivity advancements as a result of this research.

“As part of the conference business leaders will be asked about the climate drivers that impact their business, what they are doing to manage them and what they think might happen in the future,” Mr Burns said.

“The conference will provide insights into how forecasts are developing and how forecasting tools are being used to manage risk within different sectors of primary industries.

“The conference will present possible future industry drivers and will also discuss the opportunities and challenges for Australia’s primary industries by considering innovation needs and how this innovation is delivered to those that need it.”

The conference is being on 27-28 April 2016 in Sydney.
