Growers, industry and politicians to voice their opposition to NZ potato imports

There will be a gathering of Growers, Industry and Politicians to voice their opposition to the Federal Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) Biosecurity Division’s review to allow fresh potatoes from New Zealand to be imported into Australia.

This presents a massive biosecurity risk that puts the future of the potato industry in jeopardy. Industry is calling on the Minister of Agriculture Joe Ludwig to intervene and suspend the review given the catastrophic damage that has been suffered in New Zealand.

Imported potatoes from New Zealand will carry the destructive Zebra Chip disease and can also carry the Potato Psyllid.
