The Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA), to be held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) from 2-5 February, promises to be a significant event in the 2014 industry calendar. The GFIA agenda has been designed by an international steering committee with expertise in the fields of academia, R&D, science, industry and investment. The event is expected to attract global experts in sustainable agriculture with a strong emphasis on hydroponic and greenhouse technology.
The Golbal Forum is part of a UAE Government initiative to support and finance agricultural projects over the next five years to modernise farming in the Emirates. The event seeks to educate and harness modern growing technology, innovations and initiatives being planned and deployed across the world to increase food security, particularly in regions characterised by water shortages and unfertile land.
Held under the patronage of UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, this is a unique opportunity for international equipment suppliers and developers, investors, food producers, retailers, scientists, NGOs and agricultural organisations to share knowledge and to showcase developments and innovations to a new wave of growers in the Middle East, and beyond. The event is geared towards solving urgent agricultural problems in the UAE with the help of the world’s foremost experts. Organisers hope this important Forum will pave the way for an agricultural revolution.
