The International Symposia on Tropical and Temperate Horticulture 2016 (ISTTH2016) will be held at the Cairns Convention Centre, Queensland, Australia, from 20-25 November 2016. The Congress will be hosted by the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), Australian Institute of Horticulture Inc. (AIH) and the Australian Society of Horticultural Science (AuSHS), the purpose of the Symposia is to bring together stakeholders in horticulture science and the horticulture industry. The Symposia will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to interact across the chain networks to share innovative new research outcomes linked to delivering economic benefits, productivity and profitability across the globe.
ISTTH2016 will be relevant to a number of public and private sector organisations and industry groups from along the supply network. The event is expected to attract a large number of delegates from across the globe with specific interest from Australian, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Pacific Islands. The attendees will encompass:
- Horticulture Science
- Industry Development
- Farmers and Growers
- Trade Development and Export
- Government – local, state and national
- Research Organisations
- Tertiary Research including academics and students.
The Symposia will emphasise tropical horticulture with the theme ‘Now is the Era for Tropical Horticulture’, but it will also include some topics on temperate horticulture.
The scientific program will include 11 international ISHS Symposia in addition to hosting meetings of the Australian Institute of Horticulture Inc. (AIH), and the Australian Society of Horticultural Science (AuSHS).
The Congress will provide a unique opportunity to showcase diverse horticultural industries worldwide. This includes international opportunities for horticulture industries and access to new technologies and innovation in horticulture and horticultural technology.
ISTTH2016 will be of benefit to local growers and horticultural industries via access to a wide range of international scientists and industries and includes a produce competition for local growers in a wide range of categories. Workshops will he held to provide interactions between growers, sponsors, exhibitors and researchers.
The Symposia offers a number of opportunities to engage with current real world science presentations, poster sessions, and workshops. ISTTH2016 will be actively encouraging early career researchers to submit either a symposium oral or a poster presentation, attend and engage with international researchers present at the Symposia. The Trade Display area will be the focal point for the exhibition, produce competition, meeting and connecting with delegates.
