5% of Adelaide growers turn to hydroponics

au.news.yahoo.com and FreshPlaza report 5% of growers on the Adelaide Plains in South Australia are switching to hydroponics, according to Adelaide grower, Hieu Minh Ly.

He says the chance to control production and the smaller amount of land required are advantageous. However, he said that the challenges included the costs involved, which  were prohibitive for some.

Minh Ly, who has recently made the switch himself, has just returned from a study tour of the Netherlands, to see its world class hydroponics industry at work.
